The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) had the pleasure of hosting the consortium of the European project INCLUDE in Heraklion, Crete, on 14–15 of January, 2026, as part of a two-day Study Visit. The meeting brought together Institutes and Universities from across Europe that are actively working to promote gender equality and intersectionality in biomedical research.

The two-day meeting served as a vibrant space for exchanging experiences and collective learning. Through discussions, presentations, and laboratory visits, participants had the opportunity to share progress and challenges related to the implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) in research.

As part of the visit, two in-person Thematic Hub were also held: one on Gender Budgeting (coordinated by Smart Venice) and one on Gender and Intersectionality in Biomedical Research (coordinated by IMBB).

Our participation in this joint effort strengthens the shared goal of building a more inclusive and intersectional European research and innovation ecosystem.
