We study basic mechanisms regulating development, cell fate transitions and stress adaptation in dynamic stem cell populations. Our research aims at understanding how stem cells perceive endogenous or exogenous cues and how these are intertwined with structural and mechanical properties of cells.

We mainly focus on homeostasis of proteins and RNA molecules emphasizing on catabolic processes. Our main biological system is the model Arabidopsis. We are experienced in a wide array of experimental platforms of cell biology, biochemistry, genetics and genome editing. Furthermore, we try to extend our basic knowledge in the improvement of Brassicaceae species important for ecology, food and biodiesel (e.g. rapeseed, Camelina).
