The focus of our research group is the regulation of myelopoiesis by the immune system. We focus on the changes that take place in the bone marrow during aging, regarding immune cell population that, in turn, drive the aging-related changes in hematopoiesis. Additionally, we study the role of immune cell populations, such as T cells and monocytes, in the progression of myeloid neoplasia, including myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia. Our aim is to identify and characterize effector cell populations that can suppress leukemic stem cell clones, in an effort to identify possible targets for immunotherapies.
